Frequently Asked Questions

We want your experience with Rosen-Carole Still-Point Counseling Services to feel seamless, supportive, and empowering. Below, you'll find answers to the most common questions about working with us, whether you're starting therapy, looking into reimbursement options, or simply exploring your care options. If your question isn't answered here, don't hesitate to reach out.

How do I begin care?

Start by contacting us through our website or by phone. You will receive a response within 24 hours.

Do you accept insurance?

We are an out-of-network provider, meaning we're not directly paneled with insurance companies. Instead, we provide superbills that clients may submit for insurance reimbursement.

Why out-of-network?

Choosing an out-of-network provider gives you greater privacy, flexibility, and control over your care. Here's why many of our clients prefer it:

Privacy: Insurance companies require a formal mental health diagnosis, which becomes part of your permanent medical record. At Rosen-Carole Still-Point Counseling Services, diagnosis is only provided if and when you request it. It is never shared unless you choose to.
Cost: In-network therapy can cost $175–$300 per session due to high deductibles. Our private-pay rates are set at $160 per 50-minute session. After submitting a superbill, a significant portion of this cost may be reimbursed through your out-of-network benefits.
Flexibility: Insurance often limits the number, frequency, and type of sessions you can have. It rarely covers couples or family therapy. At Rosen-Carole Still-Point Counseling Services, we take a personalized approach, adapting techniques to meet each client's unique needs, with flexibility and responsiveness at the center of every therapeutic relationship.
Quality of Care: You receive dedicated, high-level care, without the administrative and clinical burnout common in high-volume, insurance empaneled clinics.

Can you help with reimbursement?

After at least two sessions, a superbill will be provided upon request. Here are some helpful links:

Want to know if your plan will reimburse you?

  1. Locate the customer service number on your insurance card.
  2. Call and ask: "Do I have out-of-network coverage for outpatient mental health services?"
  3. If yes, ask: "Will I be reimbursed if I submit a superbill for sessions with a licensed therapist?"
  4. Request an email address for submitting claims.
  5. At the end of your next session, request your superbill.
  6. Medicare/Medicaid do not reimburse for out-of-network therapy in NY State.

What are your rates?

We offer significantly reduced private-pay rates to make quality care accessible:

Individual therapy: $160 per 50-minute session; 10% discount for cash payment.
Couples, Polycules, & family therapy: $200 per 50-minute session

Sliding scale available.

After submitting a superbill, a significant portion of this cost may be reimbursed through your out-of-network benefits.

We accept cash, debit/credit cards, HSA, and Zelle.
Due to privacy (data protection) concerns, we do not accept Venmo or PayPal.

Coaching at Still-Point: Support and guidance for growth, clarity, and sustainable change.

At Rosen-Carole Still-Point Counseling Services, coaching is offered as a distinct, non-clinical service for individuals and couples seeking structured guidance, reflection, and practical support without entering a psychotherapy relationship. Coaching is focused on achieving clarity and direction, problem-solving, and personal or relationship development. It is not mental health treatment and is not a substitute for therapy.

Coaching at Still-Point provides space for:

  • Clarifying goals and strengthening direction
  • Understanding and shifting relational or emotional patterns
  • Improving communication and boundaries
  • Exploring identity, values, and self-leadership
  • Developing sustainable practices for stress and overwhelm
  • Receiving thoughtful, attuned support that helps you see yourself and your choices more clearly

Coaching is a collaborative process. It does not involve diagnosis, clinical interventions, trauma processing, or acute care. Coaching is not covered by insurance and is offered privately and separately from clinical services. If at any point your needs would be better supported through therapy, I will help you find the appropriate level of care.

Who Coaching May Help

Coaching may be a good fit if you are:

  • Looking for perspective
  • Seeking guidance around communication, boundaries, or emotional patterns
  • Feeling stuck in life or relationship dynamics and interested in tools to shift them
  • Navigating personal, academic, or professional transitions
  • A parent seeking support in understanding and responding to your teen (including neurodivergent, trans, and queer teens)
  • A helper, clinician, or caregiver managing burnout and emotional overload
  • Seeking reflective, grounded support, as distinct from therapy

Coaching is available to clients in any location; because it is not psychotherapy, it is not limited by NY licensing requirements.

How Coaching Works

Coaching sessions are:

  • 50 minutes, conducted in person or online
  • Structured around your goals
  • Focused on insight and practical strategies
  • Rooted in the attuned, relational, integrative lens that informs clinical work at Still-Point Counseling Services, without being clinical care

Together, we look at what is getting in the way, what is calling for attention, and what supports forward movement.

Is Coaching or Therapy Right for You?

If you are unsure which service best meets your needs, you may schedule a free consultation during which we will determine how best support you.

Coaching sessions are offered as private-pay services, at the same rate as clinical services at Still-Point Counseling.
